One of my customers deliverd me a silk comforter that he has washed it.IT’s a brand-new silk comforter that has only been used for one year.
Now it has become stiff and clumped together in lumps on the surface.
The customer asked me ,can we refurbish it for him?She hopes to make it usable again,as it’s quite expensive and would be a pity to throw away.

Then I checked it,the silk on the outer layer of the entire silk comforter has bcome quite clumpy. However ,some of the silk inside is still in very good comdition,so the part of it can still be reused.

Why did the customer wash the silk comforter?
Because the inner liner cover is dirty.Someone recommended the oxygenated bleach works well for cleaning. So she tried it,and then the silk comforter changed like this.
However ,the silk comforter can’t be washed with water, especially not with alkaline laundry detergents.
Moreover, alkaline ingredients in laundry detergents and peroxide-containing additives such as oxygen bleach act like “corrosives” and damage the protein structure.
This customer not only washed the quilt with water but also used detergent, which dealt a “double blow” to the silk comforter.
What should you do if a silk comforter gets dirty?
1.If there are some slight stains on it,you can gently wipe them with a damp towel and then let is air dry. If the stains are relatively stubborn, you can als apply some detergent to them, rub gently, and then wipe with a damp towel.
2.If the stained area is relatively large, you must remove the quilt cover and then washit.Alternatively, you can send you quilt back to the manufacturer and let them clean it for you.
Fortunately ,throuht our renovation, the customer’s silk comforter can be resued.
